Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp salt

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

1 ½ cups peeled and chopped apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 cup chopped pecans

Optional: additional cinnamon sugar for topping

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until combined.

Gently fold in the chopped apples and pecans until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. If desired, sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on top for extra crunch and sweetness.

Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
