Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons fine sea salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 ¾ cups warm water (110°F or 43°C)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon cornmeal (for dusting)

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and sea salt.

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

Using a wooden spoon or your hands, mix until a shaggy dough forms.

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.

Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air, then divide it into 2 or 4 portions depending on your pizza size preference.

Shape each portion into a ball, cover with a cloth, and let them rest for another 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to the highest setting (usually around 475°F or 245°C) for at least 30 minutes.

Roll each ball of dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.

Transfer the rolled dough onto a pizza peel or a baking sheet dusted with cornmeal for easy transfer.

Top with your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings, then bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and crispy.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy your artisan pizza!
