Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, minced

1 red bell pepper, finely diced

1 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped

3 green onions, sliced (whites and greens separated)

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sriracha (optional, adjust for spice)

1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated

Fresh cilantro for garnish

Chopped peanuts for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.

Cook the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant (1-2 minutes).

Mix in Veggies: Add the diced red bell pepper, chopped water chestnuts, and the white parts of the green onions into the skillet. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Combine Sauces: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sriracha. Pour the sauce over the beef mixture, stirring to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and nicely coated.

Assemble Wraps: To serve, spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf. Top with green onion greens, fresh cilantro, and chopped peanuts if desired.

Enjoy: Fold the lettuce over the filling like a taco and enjoy your delicious Asian-style ground beef wraps!
