Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

3 tablespoons oyster sauce

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ginger, minced

1 cup broccoli florets

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well, coating the beef evenly. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the fridge for deeper flavor).

Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Sear for 2-3 minutes without stirring, allowing a crust to form. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the onions, bell pepper, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes until the onions become translucent.

Add Broccoli: Toss in the broccoli florets and stir-fry for another 3 minutes, adding a splash of water if needed to steam the broccoli slightly while keeping it crisp.

Combine Everything: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Drizzle in sesame oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir everything together and cook for an additional minute to heat through.

Serve: Serve the beef and vegetable mixture over cooked jasmine rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.
