Ingredients

1 loaf of brioche or challah bread, cut into cubes

8 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon almond extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)

8 oz cream cheese, softened and cut into small cubes

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Bread: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place the cubed bread evenly in the dish, distributing them well.

Make the Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

Combine Bread and Egg Mixture: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Using a spatula, gently press the bread down to ensure all pieces are soaked. Allow it to sit for about 10 minutes.

Add Cream Cheese and Berries: Dot the mixture with the softened cream cheese cubes and scatter the mixed berries on top. Gently press them into the bread mixture.

Bake the Casserole: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set in the middle.

Cool and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy with warm maple syrup drizzled on top.
