The origins of Buffalo chicken dip can be traced back to the city of Buffalo, New York, where the famous Buffalo wings were first created. The culinary innovation of combining chicken with spicy sauce and buttery flavors quickly made its way into the dip realm, evolving into a dish that captures the essence of Buffalo wings in a creamy, shareable format. While the exact timeline of its development is a bit murky, it is widely believed that the dip gained popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s, coinciding with the rise of casual dining and sports viewing culture.

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup ranch dressing

1/2 cup Frank’s RedHot Buffalo Sauce

1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles (optional)

1 tbsp olive oil

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Tortilla chips or celery sticks (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese until smooth.

Add the cooked shredded chicken, ranch dressing, Frank’s Buffalo Sauce, and shredded cheddar cheese to the bowl. Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

If using blue cheese, gently fold in the crumbles.

Drizzle a tablespoon of olive oil over the top for added richness (optional).

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and golden on top.

Remove from oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
