1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)

Sea salt flakes (for topping)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

      Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and add the vanilla extract until well combined.

        In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

          Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

            Fold in the chocolate chips and caramel sauce using a spatula until evenly distributed.

              Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

                Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown (the centers might look slightly underbaked, but they will continue to cook on the baking sheet).

                  As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, drizzle a little extra caramel sauce over the tops and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.

                    Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
