Ingredients
  

  • 4 pieces bone-in skin-on chicken thighs
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 2 pieces green onions finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Marinate the chicken by whisking together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  • Add chicken thighs to the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
  • In a saucepan, heat chicken broth and stir in leftover marinade, simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  • Preheat a skillet over medium heat and cook chicken thighs skin-side down for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  • Flip the chicken and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Pour reserved marinade over the chicken, reduce heat to low, and cover the skillet.
  • Simmer for 15-20 minutes, basting occasionally until fully cooked.
  • Transfer chicken to a serving platter and let rest for a few minutes.
  • Slice chicken if desired and serve in bowls with garlic-ginger broth.
  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
