Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated (plus more for garnish)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 large eggs

1 cup eggnog (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

1/3 cup powdered sugar (for glazing)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk the eggs, eggnog, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps. If using, fold in the chopped nuts for added texture.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with a tablespoon of eggnog until smooth. Drizzle over the bread before serving, and sprinkle with additional nutmeg if desired.

Serve: Slice the eggnog bread and enjoy it warm or at room temperature. It pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee or tea during the holiday season!
