Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup milk

2 cups chopped apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk. Whisk until well blended.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

Add Apples and Nuts: Fold in the chopped apples and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour into Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake: Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil.

Cool: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk if necessary.

Glaze the Bread: Once the bread is completely cool, drizzle the glaze over the top.

Serve and Enjoy: Slice the bread and serve it warm or at room temperature. This delicious Country Apple Fritter Bread is perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert!
