  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups Gruyère cheese freshly grated
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, then add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and whole milk, stirring to combine, then add thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer to meld the flavors.
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  • Drizzle half of the creamy mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle half of the Gruyère cheese on top.
  • Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and Gruyère cheese.
  • Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top layer.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
