Ingredients
  

1 lb (450g) chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup cornstarch

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1 egg, beaten

2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

1/3 cup honey

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp sesame oil

½ tsp red pepper flakes (adjust for spice)

1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)

Instructions
 

Prep the Chicken: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In another bowl, beat the egg.

    Coat the Chicken: Dip each piece of chicken into the beaten egg, letting the excess drip off. Then, coat the chicken in the flour mixture, ensuring it's fully covered. Shake off any excess coating.

      Fry the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the coated chicken pieces in a single layer (working in batches if necessary). Fry for about 5-7 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

        Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Stir and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, add the cornstarch slurry (mixed cornstarch and water) to the sauce while stirring continuously. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

          Combine Chicken and Sauce: Once the chicken is cooked, place it in a large bowl. Pour the thickened honey garlic sauce over the fried chicken, tossing gently until all pieces are well coated.

            Serve: Immediately serve your crispy honey garlic chicken over steamed rice or with a side of sautéed vegetables. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
