Ingredients

12 oz dark chocolate chips (60-70% cacao)

1 tsp peppermint extract

1 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes

8 oz white chocolate chips (optional for drizzling)

Sea salt (for a finishing touch)

Instructions

Melt the Dark Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate chips. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until fully melted and smooth.

Add Peppermint Extract: Once melted, stir in the peppermint extract until well combined. This will infuse your bark with a delightful minty flavor.

Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a 9x13 inch baking sheet with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later on.

Spread the Chocolate: Pour the melted dark chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet. Using a spatula, spread it evenly to cover the bottom of the sheet. Aim for a thickness of about 1/4 inch.

Sprinkle the Peppermint Candies: While the dark chocolate is still warm, evenly sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies over the top, pressing them gently into the chocolate to ensure they stick.

Melt the White Chocolate (optional): If using, melt the white chocolate chips in a separate bowl in the microwave using the same method as before. Once melted, drizzle it over the dark chocolate and peppermint layer for added visual appeal and sweetness.

Add Sea Salt (optional): For a sweet and salty contrast, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the chocolate mixture.

Chill to Set: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate has completely hardened.

Break into Pieces: Once set, lift the bark from the baking sheet using the parchment overhang. Break it into irregular pieces for a rustic look.

Store and Enjoy: Store the peppermint bark in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
