  • 9 pieces lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper
  • for garnish fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the lasagna noodles in boiling salted water until al dente, then drain and cool slightly.
  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks, and drain excess fat.
  • Combine ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Layer 3 lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, one-third of mozzarella, and a layer of marinara sauce.
  • Repeat with another 3 noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, another third of mozzarella, and marinara sauce.
  • For the final layer, place the last 3 noodles, cover with remaining marinara, and sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is golden.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and garnish with fresh basil.
