  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt in a bowl.
  • Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Divide dough into two halves, shape into disks, wrap, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out one disk of dough to ⅛ inch thick and cut into shapes.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
