Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

½ cup powdered sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup blanched almonds (for decoration)

Extra powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.

Add Flavor: Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.

Form the Dough: Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until a smooth dough forms. Be careful not to overwork the dough.

Shape the Cookies: Take small portions of dough (about 1 inch in diameter) and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Add Almonds: Gently press one blanched almond into the center of each dough ball for decoration.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The cookies will remain pale in color.

Cool and Dust: Allow the ghraybeh to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Once cooled completely, dust with extra powdered sugar if desired.

Serve and Enjoy: Your delightful ghraybeh treats are ready to be enjoyed! Pair them with tea or coffee for an extra special treat.
