Ingredients
  

  • 1 liter fresh apple juice
  • 250 ml water
  • 100 ml Amaretto
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Fresh apple slices for garnish
  • Whipped cream optional

Instructions

  • In a spacious pot, pour in the fresh apple juice and water. Heat over medium heat without boiling.
  • Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, star anise, orange slices, lemon slices, and brown sugar. Stir well.
  • Let the mixture simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes to infuse flavors.
  • Add Amaretto during the last 5 minutes of simmering, or almond syrup for a non-alcoholic version.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness with more brown sugar if desired.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove spices and fruit slices.
