  • 2 cups potatoes boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup green peas cooked
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch piece of fresh ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • to taste salt
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • to taste fresh cilantro chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 egg beaten for egg wash or milk for a vegan option

Instructions

  • Heat cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat and add cumin seeds.
  • Sauté chopped onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger until onions are translucent.
  • Stir in mashed potatoes and cooked peas, then add spices and salt.
  • Cook for an additional 5 minutes, then fold in chopped cilantro.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out one sheet of puff pastry and place it in a pie dish.
  • Spread the potato and pea filling over the pastry base.
  • Drape the second sheet of puff pastry over the filling and seal the edges.
