Ingredients

12 oz (340g) pasta of choice (spaghetti or penne works great)

1 lb (450g) Italian sausage (mild or spicy, casings removed)

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

1 bell pepper (red or yellow), sliced

1 cup snap peas or green beans

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the pasta: Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and then drain the pasta.

Brown the sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the sausage, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Add garlic and vegetables: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the sliced bell pepper and snap peas (or green beans) to the skillet, cooking until they are tender-crisp, about 3-4 minutes.

Prepare the sticky sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the sausage and veggies, stirring to combine. Allow the sauce to simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Combine with pasta: Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss everything together. If the mixture seems too dry, you can add reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until you achieve your desired consistency.

Season to taste: Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

Serve and garnish: Serve the Sticky Honey Garlic Sausage Pasta hot, garnished with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh herbs if desired.
