Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar

1 cup warm milk (about 110°F or 43°C)

½ cup plain yogurt

1 large egg

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for greasing)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar. Whisk until well blended.

In another bowl, mix the warm milk, yogurt, egg, and melted butter.

Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time.

Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl, turning to coat the surface. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.

Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into 6 equal pieces and shape each piece into a round ball.

Flatten each ball gently with your palm, and then cover with the towel for a short rest of about 10-15 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat a non-stick skillet or a heavy cast-iron pan over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter.

Place one flattened dough piece into the pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side, pressing gently with a spatula for even cooking.

Remove the bread from the pan and place it on a wire rack to cool. Repeat with the remaining dough.

If desired, brush the warm bread with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top before serving.
